Favos Cooperative is a group of artisans based in southern Brazil that adapts a traditional regional form of stitching.  This stitching is used in bombacha, traditional gaúcho attire worn on the fertile agricultural plains, or pampa, of the region.  Bombacha is usually fitted with detailed pleating which patterns are reminiscent of honeycombs.  They apply this technique to handbags, pillows and bed spreads using high quality fabrics.

A gaúcho is a type of cattleman in the southernmost part of Brazil.  In addition to settling vast stretches of the interior plains, their long cattle drives connected disparate regions and facilitated communication.  The gaúcho is roughly equivalent to a North American cowboy and is also associated with distinctive traditional dress and customs.
